Asterisk from Scratch - Part 1 - Intro to Asterisk & Asterisk Architecture
Asterisk from Scratch is a well-rounded informative overview of the Asterisk Project, with a focus on the essentials a general "newbie" should know. All are welcome! Whether you are managing a team deploying an Asterisk implementation, evaluating potential replacements for a legacy telephony solution, or are simply new to Asterisk, this talk has something to offer you.

This all-day seminar is broken into multiple sessions, beginning with background information such as the history of Asterisk and examples of fundamental configuration for a call flow and features such as Voicemail, IVR and will include a comparison of SIP channel driver configuration in Asterisk 13.

(Dial)Plan to Succeed!
Asterisk dialplans often fail to get the attention and planning they deserve. Without a planned structure, over time your dialplan runs the risk of devolving into a collection of cobbled-together, spaghetti-coded contexts that can be difficult to maintain. This session will identify several tools and steps you can take to help ensure your dialplan is a well-thought-out thing of beauty, something you can be proud of, that will serve your company for years into the future. To enable screen reader support, press shortcut ⌘+Option+Z. To learn about keyboard shortcuts, press shortcut ⌘slash.

Integrating APIs with Asterisk through Adhearsion
Integrating Asterisk with third party APIs who do not provide a direct interface, such as IBM Watson and Wit.ai, through Adhearsion and Ruby. ASR and sentiment analysis will provide our IVRs with an unparalleled ability to not only understand what callers say, but also what their desires and intent are. Dialplan applications can be complex to set up to use those APIs, and web applications are not well suited to that type of application. Adhearsion, the Ruby voice application framework, makes it easy and fun!

ARI Scaling and Production
The way we build applications around Asterisk has completely changed over the past couple of years. We now have the ARI leaving Asterisk to be a dumb media engine driven by your application using the ARI. This is great, but the way we write applications with the ARI needs to be different to how we would typically tackle application development with the AGI or even AMI. Creating a scalable solution that doesn't grind to its knees when there's an issue is vital. Building for resilience and uptime in the ARI era is completely different to how we may have done it just a few years ago. Come hear how to build a solution which isn't rigid, isn't monolithic and isn't going to collapse at the first issue thrown at it. Come hear how you can create a highly scalable, stable and secure solution for this generation.

Just Married: Open Stack and Asterisk
OpenStack is the hottest platform for deploying a cloud. However, what is a "cloud" actually made up of? What is OpenStack? What does it take to deploy OpenStack? Is there a way to deploy OpenStack in a home lab? Is it possible to get Asterisk running "in" the cloud? All of these questions will be answered, including tracing calls through virtually deployed environments.

Catching Fraudsters with Asterisk!
There are lots of services out there that provide phone fraud detection, alerting, speaker recognition, call content analysis, etc.
The selection in huge.
How can a merchant even tell if he’s got a phone fraud problem?
And once he admits the problem exist - how can he address the situation?

This session will review few methods of fraud detection and prevention,
while focusing about how can a merchant/call-centre take advantage of
Asterisk (combined with couple of open-source libraries) and start catching fraudsters.

And the cherry on top:
The merchant’s website can help catch (phone) fraudsters as well!

This session will include few (real world!) examples that show how few
countermeasures can reduce and even eradicate a fraud problem from your call-centre.

Using Asterisk and XMPP to provide greater tools to your customers and your users
In this talk I'll show how to make use of Asterisk and XMPP to create tools and facilities that can improve the customer and the user experience.
I'll start with a brief XMPP protocol introduction and its support in Asterisk and then I'll demonstrate two projects (both PoC) that I'm developing:
* IVR's Data Delivery (https://github.com/mhterres/IVR-Data-Delivery), that can be used to expose the data entered in IVR to other softwares used in a company in a simple manner. Using Asterisk ARI API and XMPP this project can optimize the customer experience. And using res_xmpp, the internal user experience can be improved by earlier caller identification.
* XyBot (https://github.com/mhterres/XyBot): XyBot was created to allow users to interact with Asterisk directly from their IM (XMPP) client. In our "unified communications" times, this project shows how to create your own features to attend your needs.
In the end, with the participation of audience, we will discuss more uses of this kind of integration.

Asterisk and Cisco Video Platform
Asterisk is used like a swiss army knife for one of our clinet’s video platform. In this low budget project, multiple asterisk servers with rich functionalities were deployed to address the need for voicemail, audio conferencing, call routing, black listing, ISDN-gateway and many more for the video platform. Currently the undergoing project for the same client is to use asterisk as the webRTC gateway. Asterisk server with multiple embedded codecs succeeded where products from other vendors has failed to integrate to our client’s video platform.
